Lessard|Nichols Scholarship Fund

After a flood of emotion, following the tragic loss of two fellow fire fighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, Winnipeg fire fighter Jason Buhr penned his thoughts and emotions into the lyrics of ¡°Unite Our Hearts Today¡± the morning after the accident, paying tribute not only to the bravery of his fallen brothers, Captains Harold Lessard and Tom Nichols, but to all fire fighters.

"As a song writer my main goal is to create something that people can relate to and to ultimately inspire the hearts and minds of all who listen," Jason states. He truly believes that this song was a gift from God to help with the healing process and to help a community deal with such a tragic loss.

Jason worked alongside both Tom Nichols and Harold Lessard for years as a Winnipeg fire fighter. Harold was Jason&##39;s Captain for 3 of the last 4 years and of that time Jason says "it was like a re-birth in my career. Harold was a strong proponent of unity, and was very fair to all. He was one of the best leaders I&##39;ve ever experienced."

Jason wanted to honor Harold & Tom by using the song ¡°Unite Our Hearts Today¡± for a purpose that they both would be proud of. And with the assistance of Lynn Lessard and others, the Lessard|Nichols Scholarship Fund has come into being. All proceeds from CD donations will go to the scholarship fund.

The scholarship will not only help to keep the memory of these brave men alive, it will also assist others who have experienced the call to fire fighting but may be challenged by the financial commitment of pursuing their dream. Jason says "I believe the benefit will come full circle with this project as these new fire fighters follow their call. We will all eventually benefit from their future service to their communities."

Jason Buhr is a singer/songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He believes that "music is it&##39;s own reward" and the songs he writes are a reflection of this. Jason&##39;s music includes a mix of upbeat acoustic melodies, straight ahead rock n&##39; roll hooks, as well as some very introspective folkish tunes.

Jason believes that music should be fun but also believes the opportunity to share his music with others shouldn&##39;t be taken for granted. His writing style tends to focus on positive, encouraging lyrics that are designed to cause the listener to think and know there is always hope. Jason&##39;s music along with his band Godspeed, has encouraged many music lovers of all ages.
